GrowHealthy released several new distillate strains in the past couple of weeks – some of which are “limited edition” runs. Sour Tangie is one of the “limited edition” sativa concentrates, but after trying it, I really hope GrowHealthy decides to keep it around. Other than the classic energetic and motivational effects typical of sativa strains, this strain tastes absolutely wonderful.
GrowHealthy receives a lot of hype on the Florida Trees and Florida Medical Trees subreddits for their high-quality (and often great-tasting) distillates, many of which use cannabis-based terpenes. The “cannabis-based terpene” is a term that a lot of people like to throw around here recently, but basically all it means is that the same terpenes (limonene, pinene, etc.) are acquired from cannabis plants rather than other plants/fruits. However, I will have to say that I do notice a more “well-rounded” spectrum of effects when using products that have cannabis-based terpenes, so I’m sure there’s some science (similar to the entourage effect?) behind why this is so.
Sour Tangie Distillate (Sativa)
Total Cannabinoids: 81.32%
Batch Number: ID62 SRTN
Other Ingredients: Cannabis Terpenes
As with my other reviews, I rate this product on three main criteria. Those three scores will be averaged for a final “overall score” and basic description of the product quality.
Let’s cut to the chase – I think Sour Tangie distillate tastes amazing. It is hands down the best tasting distillate that I’ve tried in the program – and that’s after trying all the Truclear strains, some Curaleaf strains, and several GrowHealthy strains. The earthy tangerine/orange citrus taste is very notable and dominant; there is a sour/dank cannabis taste present as well, which I assume comes from the East Coast Sour Diesel parent. It sort of reminds me of Trulieve’s Clementine distillate, except for the fact that it tastes much closer to real cannabis – and the effects are closer to flower as well.
I thought Birds of Paradise (another GrowHealthy sativa concentrate) tasted exceptionally good; then Sour Tangie topped it. If you try this strain before it’s supposedly discontinued, be careful: it’s one of those strains that tastes so good, you may accidentally “overmedicate” with it. The fact that this taste is achieved with the flower’s natural terpene profile has me really hoping one of the Florida dispensaries drops the flower version of Sour Tangie soon.
Taste Rating: 4.30/5.00
Sour Tangie distillate comes in the same syringe that all other distillates I’ve tried, with an easily removable rubber cap on the bottom, allowing for easy filling of a VFire pod or your empty cartridge of choice.
The distillate itself is about as thick, perhaps a bit thicker, than Truclear. It vaporizes well, leaving the flavor pretty well intact all the way through to the exhale. It seems like everything about this product is at least fairly good quality.
Vapor/Product Quality Rating: 4.00/5.00
Sour Tangie is one of the more relaxing sativa distillates I’ve tried. It’s definitely energetic and motivational – no doubt, but there is also a definite (but light) body relaxation present after medicating. I attribute this to the fact that Sour Tangie is supposedly an 80/20% sativa-dominant hybrid (Leafly); this is a good thing for most patients, as a common complaint with sativa concentrates is that they can induce paranoia in higher doses. This has certainly not been the case with Sour Tangie, or any other distillate I’ve gotten from GrowHealthy for that matter.
It’s easy to carry on conversations and complete tasks while medicating with Sour Tangie, and colors/visual perception seem enhanced as well. I would recommend this strain as best used during the morning or early afternoon hours – it may be too stimulating for some patients to use in the evening or before bed, especially patients with a low tolerance.
Sour Tangie seems like it would be good for treating depression, minor anxiety, ADD/ADHD, minor headaches, minor aches and pains, and minor gastrointestinal issues or upset stomach. It’s one of the more well-rounded sativa strains that I’ve tried so far.
Effects Rating: 4.40/5.00
Overall Rating: 4.23/5.00
GrowHealthy definitely has the best distillates, at least of all the different ones that I’ve tried. Sour Tangie is another excellent high-quality product, and I really hope that they will consider keeping it around or bringing it back in the near future. This is one I’d recommend trying to get your hands on while you can – it’s all-around enjoyable and useful medication.
