Mandarin Dream is the first Indica TruCRMBL I was able to get my hands on, and as always, I’m interested to see how “heavy” it’s going to be. Is this the type of indica that’s going to put me to sleep in under an hour, is it better for winding down after work, or is it a strain that I can use at any time?
This strain seems to be derived from more recent (late 2010s) genetics, so there isn’t exactly a ton of information about it. I’ve found Mandarin Dream to be an enjoyable, fairly well-rounded indica that behaves more like an indica-dominant hybrid.

This batch of Mandarin Dream crumble was more of the color and consistency I was used to from my first few purchases of TruCRMBL: colored as pictured above, with a nice and firm consistency that is easy to break into pieces and work with. There were a few of the strange black speckles in this batch, like I found in the batch of Green Crack crumble I recently picked up. I assume this to be some sort of artifact from the production process; maybe it got a little too hot?
Either way, TruCRMBL is a quality product that has been a pleasure to medicate with time and time again. This is a great form of medication that I never knew I would like so much.
Appearance Rating: 4.30/5.00
Mandarin Dream is a blend of sour, tangy citrus terpenes and an earthy, “gassy” underlying scent. The citrus is not so “bright” that I would consider it to be lemony; it’s more a musky and sour citrus smell that I tend to associate with various varieties of oranges and tangerines. The earthy, skunky notes back this up nicely for a pleasant combination when inhaled. The taste is on par with the smell: sour citrus-dominant, with earthy and skunky undertones. This wasn’t necessarily my favorite taste of the crumble strains I’ve tried, but it is by no means bad or unenjoyable.

I prefer sativa strains to treat my depression and anxiety, so they compromise well over half of my usual medication. When I get indica strains, I’m typically looking for something that will really knock me out and help me sleep at night. I prefer hybrids to bridge that gap, and help me relax and wind down after a productive day while medicated with a sativa strain.
Given this background information, I found Mandarin Dream to be a little bit above average in effects, but not an outstanding strain. In lower doses, it’s great for relaxing with a movie, sitting by a fire, or doing activities that don’t require a whole lot of energy. In higher doses, Mandarin Dream did help me get to sleep easier than if I didn’t medicate with it, but I did not find it to be the type of indica that sedates me and absolutely takes me down for the night.
In general, I found Mandarin Dream to behave more like a 60/40% indica-dominant hybrid than a true indica strain. Patients looking for a good indica strain to use throughout the day will most likely enjoy Mandarin Dream. It does provide a nice warm-body sensation that helps ease minor to moderate pain.
Possibly good for treating:
- Good for general relaxation
- Relief of minor to moderate aches and pains
- Relief of minor to moderate nausea and gastrointestinal discomfort
- Relief of minor to moderate insomnia (in higher doses)
I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every body is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.
Effects Rating: 3.70/5.00
Overall Rating: 3.93/5.00
Overall, I would best describe Mandarin Dream as an “above average” strain.
This is a good strain for patients who like the more easy-going strains; it’s good for relaxing during the day and winding down at night. In high doses, it can provide for an easier time getting to sleep, but I would not choose it for a first-line insomnia medication.
Mandarin Dream was overall enjoyable, but it isn’t necessarily a strain I’ll be in a rush to get again, especially when there’s still so many other strains in the Florida market for me to try!
