White Buffalo is a strain that’s only come around a few times in my year of being on the Florida medical cannabis registry. I can remember 2 or 3 times that this was available in the flower cups last year, and Trulieve first introduced it as smokable flower for 4/20 2019.
I enjoyed White Buffalo immensely. It’s definitely some of the most aesthetically beautiful cannabis I’ve seen in Florida, and it has potent sativa effects that work well to combat depression.
White Buffalo (Sativa)
Batch/Harvest Number: FFOBBULN5K000005 (that’s an “O” at the beginning and zeroes at the end)

Total Terpenes: 1.57%
White Buffalo is probably the most beautiful strain I’ve seen in the Florida medical cannabis program. The pictures above say it all: almost every color you can imagine is in these buds; there is light green, dark green, light purple, dark purple, golden, orange – all covered in a blanket of sparkling white crystal trichomes.
The cure was nearly perfect as well, as the moisture is almost perfectly in between sticky and dry. The buds break down nicely, and will leave plenty of chief behind in the grinder if that’s your preferred method of preparing cannabis.
This may be the best presentation of cannabis flower that I’ve ever seen. I rarely rate any product anywhere close to perfect in any given category, but this one deserves the high rating.
Appearance Rating: 6.80/10.00
White Buffalo has a musky and earthy smell, but there is also a sweet, floral collection of terpenes in this strain as well. This is a very flowery smelling strain, with a pleasant sweetness that is slightly reminiscent of honeysuckle.
When smoked, this produces a good-tasting smoke that isn’t too far off from the smell, with the taste taking on more of a woody quality. The smoke is smooth, and the taste is enjoyable. It’s not necessarily a standout strain in this category, but I think any cannabis user will appreciate it for what it is.
Smell/Taste Rating: 5.80/10.00
This strain is listed on Leafly as an 80/20% sativa-dominant strain, and I would have to say I agree with that assessment. Though the effects are potent, I did not find them to be overwhelmingly stimulating or energizing to the point that they caused me anxiety.
I felt this strain behind the eyes at first, which then dissolved into a more full-spectrum cerebral high. After about 30-40 minutes, more full-body relaxation began to become noticeable, leaving me feeling very relaxed and euphoric and drifting off into a gentle comedown.
White Buffalo is honestly good for use at just about any time of the day. I didn’t find it so stimulating that it caused me any issues with sleep, though as I typically do with sativa strains, I used it most often in the morning and early afternoon. I found this strain a good one to use for creativity, and the focus helped me power through any tasks that I needed to complete. I really enjoyed the effects from this sativa.
Possibly good for treating:
- Minor to moderate aches and pains
- Lack of motivation
- Lack of creativity
I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every body is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.
Effects Rating: 7.20/10.00
Overall Rating: 6.60/10.00
Overall, I would best describe White Buffalo as a “pretty good” sativa strain.
The lone setback about this strain is that Trulieve raised the price once it was released in smokable form: the vaporizer cups were/are $45, but the smokable flower is $53. I’m not sure the reason for the price increase; White Buffalo definitely looks like top shelf flower, but the cannabinoid content does not warrant the $53 price tag, in my opinion. This should be $43.
I absolutely enjoyed this product; however, due to the expensive price (which was raised for no apparent reason), I will not go out of my way to purchase this product in the future until the price comes down. It is a great sativa, however – definitely up there in my favorites. If there is a sale or I find myself with some extra cash, I would absolutely buy White Buffalo again.
