Trulieve TruFlower Review: Super Silver Haze (Sativa)

A popular sativa strain best known for winning the High Times Cannabis Cup three years in a row for 1997, ’98, and ’99, Super Silver Haze is an energetic and motivational strain that I’ve enjoyed before in the ceramic flower cups (review here).

I always try to review each strain again when I get to try it as loose flower, because I think having the full buds and all the kief and terpenes intact really affects the overall outcome of the review. Super Silver Haze is a strain that consistently performs well in each category.

Quick Facts:

*Terpinolene: 0.351%

Hexahydrothymol: 0.121%

Total Terpenes: 1.197%

Appearance/Cure

The appearance and feel of this batch of Super Silver Haze was consistent with the last batch I got in the flower cups; these were both really good cures.

These Super Silver Haze buds are fluffy and cured to near perfection, as the moisture content is almost perfectly in the middle, with a nice (albeit soft) stickiness when handling the buds.

The color is mainly medium to light green, covered in amber trichomes and dark pink pistils. This seems to be a beautiful presentation of this strain.

Rating: 8.40/10.00

Smell/Taste

Super Silver Haze is a piney and woody sativa, akin to Jack Herer. However, I’ve notice that there is more of of a fruity/citrusy smell present in the batch, as well as the slightest hint of an ammonia-like terpene.

Super Silver Haze tastes nice when smoked, with both the citrus and pine terpenes dominating the taste. Though I usually prefer the more dank and musky strain smells, this piney, woody, citrusy sativa is nice.

Effects/Medical Use

For me, Super Silver Haze consistently proves to be a great strain for daytime use, particularly in the morning and early afternoon. This strain almost immediately brings on a cerebral rush that can be felt behind the eyes; after this initial period of the effects settling in, I find myself in an energetic, clear-headed and motivated space that is great for getting almost anything done.

Super Silver Haze never really causes me the anxiety that some strains (particularly sativa strains) can be notorious for, and I would have to say it feels like an 85/15% sativa-dominant hybrid for me. There is a bit of mind and body relaxation noticeable in the background, especially in the later stages of the effects, which really helps me remain grounded and clear-headed during the day. I can definitely see how this strain won the cannabis cup for years in a row – it’s consistently one that I enjoy for its energetic and motivational effects. It also does a good job of keeping my depression and anxious thoughts at bay, while simultaneously replacing them with more constructive and productive thoughts.

Possibly good for treating:

  • Depression and related anxiety
  • ADD/ADHD or focus-related issues
  • Good for treating lack of motivation
  • Improves concentration and memory recall
  • Relief of minor aches and pains

I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every body is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.

Rating: 8.80/10.00

Overall Rating: 8.26/10.00

I would best describe this batch of Super Silver Haze as “excellent”.

This strain is one of my favorite sativas, and at $43/eighth, one that I will absolutely buy again in the future. I highly recommend it to patients looking to treat focus and motivational issues, as well as for treating depression and anxiety.

Trulieve seems to be in a really good rhythm with flower quality in the past month. I’ll be back for more – so be sure to stay tuned for more reviews coming soon!
