Today (11.18.2020), Trulieve again advanced the “evolution” of their vape cart line with the release of “TruSpectrum”. This is how Trulieve describes the new product:
TruSpectrum is a new class of products that provides whole plant, full spectrum relief. It is the closest to the essence of the actual plant with no alterations, additives, or additional ingredients. Extracted with the use of ethanol, TruSpectrum oil is delicately processed to remove the ethanol but retain all of the cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavor directly from the plant. As a result, TruSpectrum’s flavor is characteristic of the individual strain’s unique bouquet of terpenes — a “whole plant extract.”
TruSpectrum is high in delta-9-THC but is not distilled, meaning patients will find many of the products found in the TruSpectrum line will contain small amounts of THCA and CBD, as well as other minor cannabinoids like CBG, CBGA, CBC, and THCV. TruSpectrum is notable because it unlocks the power of the plant.https://shop.trulieve.com/vape-carts/truspectrum
Ultimately, TruSpectrum continues the progression toward a vape cart that gets as close as possible to the experience of medicating with the full flower version of each respective strain. Therefore, one should expect the taste and effects to be comparatively better when compared to Trulieve’s other vape cart options.

To start this section, I’ll recap a bit of the “evolution” of Trulieve’s main line of vape carts and distillate options.
The first distillate (2017 and 2018) was used to make all TruClear, vape carts, and TruPods. This consisted of ethanol-extracted cannabinoids from various strains, and reintroduced botanically-derived terpenes at the end.
In late 2018, Trulieve released their CO2-extracted vape carts, TruPods, and TruClear. This differed in the extraction process, which used the original terpenes from the specific strain rather than reintroducing a formulation of botanical terpenes at the end of the process. While this achieved an extract that tasted much more like the flower form of each strain, the CO2 extraction process sometimes stripped the terpenes so much that the resulting distillate might have little to no flavor. This was hit-or-miss, however, as some batches of the CO2 distillate do come out tasting very good.
The TruSpectrum line is the next step in that evolution, and as I stated above, we can expect it to improve upon its predecessors in almost every area. I knew that I expected the taste to be better, but I wasn’t prepared for how much better it tastes.
This Pineapple Upside Down Cake (hereafter “PUDC”) TruPod literally had me saying “oh, wow” as I finished the first exhale. My closest comparison as to the flavor would be that rich, full taste we get from Rosin and Rosin Carts. It’s really night-and-day different from any of the other vape carts Trulieve has offered in the past.
As far as the PUDC strain itself, the extract comes close to replicating the taste of the flower. I taste pine, citrus, hash, and a sweet cake-like finish on the exhale.
I’m extremely impressed with how Trulieve has managed to preserve the taste of the strain in this PUDC TruPod. If the other strains taste this good, I believe Trulieve may have set a new standard for taste quality with the TruSpectrum line.
Taste Rating: 9.30/10.00
The TruPod itself is a modified VFire Pod, and I have always loved the quality and convenience of these carts. They fit the TruStik vape cart that Trulieve offers at their stores, which is a totally different mechanism than the standard 510 thread – so you’ll need a TruStik if you plan on getting one of these pods.
The pod magnetically latches into the TruStik, making for a quick and easy connect/disconnect process when using the cart.
I’ve historically never had any leaking issues with TruPods, and actually prefer them to standard CCell carts for the open mouthpiece and discreet appearance (the oil is completely covered by the battery when in use.)
Truthfully, I’d like for more MMTCs to offer these VFire pod-style carts. They’re abut as good as it gets for quality, discreteness, and ease of use – at least in my humble opinion.
Product Quality Rating: 9.50/10.00
PUDC flower was a very energizing and motivating sativa. I think that the batch used to extract this pod must have been a different phenotype, because I find the effects of this PUDC TruPod much more mellow and relaxing than I remember the flower being.
There is a mild cerebral invigoration here, but not nearly to the extent of PUDC flower. I find body relaxation and a dreamy fog-like feeling to be the most prominent effects here.
Also: I’m not sure if it’s because the vape cart tastes so good, or if the cerebral effects are a little mellow for my liking, but I find myself hitting this TruPod more often than I do most carts. I’d be interested to hear if other patients are having similar experience with this or other strains in the TruSpectrum line, so drop a comment below and let us know how your experience is.
I do find the effects of the TruSpectrum extract to be closer to flower than most other vape carts that Trulieve offers; my only wish is that the cart “hit” a little harder with the cerebral effects, as I need this to successfully relieve my ailments.
Overall, the effects are quality, and seem closer to medicating with flower than other Trulieve vape carts.
Possibly good for treating:
- Minor aches and pains
- Minor GI issues
- General Relaxation
I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every body is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.
Effects Rating: 7.50/10.00
Overall Rating: 8.76/10.00
Overall, I would best describe this Pineapple Upside Down Cake TruSpectrum TruPod as an “excellent quality” product from Trulieve.
Trulieve continues to impress me with the innovation and evolution of their various product lines. The standout quality about this particular TruSpectrum prouct was how good the taste was, and how close the experience felt to medicating with flower.
I’ll absolutely be trying different strains from the TruSpectrum line in the future, so stay tuned for more reviews coming soon!
