Trulieve Truclear Distillate Review: 9lb Hammer (Indica)

Trulieve’s 9lb Hammer Truclear was one of the first Indica products I tried in the Florida medical cannabis program. Until that point I had primarily relied on sativa strains and a few hybrids here and there; depression is the main condition I use cannabis to treat, so sativas tend to work the best for me in that regard. Having my first experience with actual medical indica strains really opened up a whole new world of medicinal cannabis benefits for me; I am one of the patients who does notice a marked difference in sativa, hybrid, and indica strains. The 9lb Hammer Truclear distillate is a good strain for “heavier” relaxation, and in high doses, an excellent sleep aid.

Quick Facts:

9lb Hammer Distillate (Indica) – (extracted from 9lb Hammer (Indica)) – This may currently be one of the only Trulieve distillates that is named for the actual strain it was extracted from. Hooray!

CBD: 0.4%

THCV: 0.0%

CBN: 0.4%

CBG: 3.0%

Total Cannabinoids: 83.9%

As with my other reviews, I rate this product on three main criteria. Those three scores will be averaged for a final “overall score” and basic description of the product quality.

Taste

Although I wouldn’t know it until long after my first trying Trulieve’s 9lb Hammer distillate, this stuff gets really close to the taste of vaping actual 9lb Hammer flower. There is definitely that earthy, slightly grape-like taste that is a defining characteristic of the flower; Trulieve did a great job (with food-grade terpenes at that) with accurately emulating the taste of this distillate. As I’ve mentioned in other reviews, there is a notable bitter taste and sensation when consuming any strain of Truclear distillate orally; this can be alleviated by eating your distillate of choice with something slightly sweet or otherwise pleasant in flavor. The distillate may have a slightly sweeter taste when consumed via inhalation in comparison to vaping raw 9lb Hammer flower, but again, it seems to be remarkably close. I like the taste of both the flower and the distillate – very cannabis-esque and enjoyable.

Taste Rating: 3.80/5.00

Vapor Quality

9lb Hammer distillate produces a smooth vapor when used with VFire pods and a Trustik/ALD Amaze VFire battery. The hits can be as small or as big as the user chooses; the taste of the distillate carries over to the vapor fairly efficiently as well, leaving the patient with an enjoyable vaping experience. This strain does not make me cough as much as sativa distillates do, though I suspect the reason for this is the difference in food-grade terpenes between the products. Overall, I think the vapor quality is solid when vaping 9lb Hammer Truclear.

Vapor Quality Rating: 4.00/5.00

Effects

9lb Hammer distillate quickly brings on warm body sensations and, perhaps surprisingly, a strong cerebral high as well. I tend to feel the effects nearly instantaneously when vaping, and they come on strong. The main difference with the effects of the distillate vs. the flower is that the body effects are not quite as strong or noticeable in the distillate. My suspicion of the reason for this is that natural flower has so many hundreds of different cannabinoids and terpenes, some of which we may not even be aware of yet. It’s difficult to accurately emulate something created by nature, and though the effects from the distillate are enjoyable, they just aren’t quite the same as the flower. In low doses, 9lb Hammer distillate really doesn’t feel too different from a sativa distillate like Clementine other than having more noticeable effects on the body, but even those effects are only moderately more noticeable in this distillate. Low doses will relieve minor to moderate aches and pains in the body and help my anxiety; high doses will help me ease into sleep much easier and stay in a deeper sleep longer if I’m having issues with insomnia. If you’re a fan of concentrates, I definitely recommend trying this or any other indica product for evening and nighttime use. It’s great for unwinding after a long day and helping the thought train to slow down to a comfortable speed. Patients looking to relieve pain, insomnia, GI issues, anxiety, lack of appetite, and other similar conditions may find relief from using 9lb Hammer distillate. The effects are warm, relaxing, and enjoyable, and perhaps not best suited for the patient planning to be productive.

Effects Rating: 4.10/5.00

Overall Rating: 3.97/5.00

The Trulieve 9lb Hammer Distillate would best be described as a “good” product; I would definite recommend patients trying this or other strains for late afternoon, evening, and nighttime medication. I find this strain particularly good for soothing my anxiety and relieving minor aches and pains related to exercise. Though I prefer the 9lb Hammer flower to the Truclear distillate form, I still see medical value in both, and find the distillate convenient for on-the-go medicating when used via inhalation.

Trulieve Truclear Distillate Review: God’s Gift (1:1 CBD:THC)

1:1 CBD:THC products are some of the most versatile forms of medication that the Florida program has to offer; the higher presence of CBD in these formulations results in a less psychoactive experience, traded for potentially more wide-ranging medicinal benefits and definitely less potential for anxiety than the other distillates. I found that the God’s Gift 1:1 Truclear was a great medicine for any time of the day and for almost any ailment. With levels near 40% of both CBD and THC, God’s Gift can relieve your anxiety while simultaneously stimulating appetite and suppressing nausea. The versatility of 1:1 products definitely make them something we recommend trying for any new patient, regardless of what condition(s) they may have been diagnosed with.

Quick Facts:

God’s Gift Distillate (1:1 CBD:THC) – (extracted from Harlequin GDP (Hybrid))

THC: 41.8%

CBD: 38.6%

THCV: 0.5%

CBN: 0.4%

CBG: 1.2%

Total Cannabinoids: 82.5%

Batch Number: FFOBBULNHH000007

Other Ingredients: Terpenes

As with my other reviews, I rate this product on three main criteria. Those three scores will be averaged for a final “overall score” and basic description of the product quality.

Taste

Unlike most all other products, I actually consumed this product orally for the most part. All Truclear distillates have a notable bitterness to them when consumed orally, and God’s Gift was no different. There is definitely a grape taste in this distillate, and a hint of something similar to licorice as well. When I vaped this distillate with my PuffCo pen, the bitterness was replaced with a very subtle sweetness behind the grape and licorice tastes. God’s Gift actually tastes pretty similar to the Grandaddy Purple Truclear; this makes sense considering that GDP is one of the genetic parents of the strain. The taste is “okay”, but I much prefer products with cannabis-derived terpenes. The effects tend to be better, too.

Taste Rating: 3.40/5.00

Vapor Quality

God’s Gift distillate produces a smooth vapor when used with VFire pods and a Trustik/ALD Amaze VFire battery. It worked fairly well with my PuffCo pen, but the vapor was not very thick and consequently did not seem to get me as medicated as other methods of consumption. With the VFire, the vapor is on par with other distillates I’ve used it to vape; it produces as much vapor as you want/are able to draw.

Vapor Quality Rating: 4.00/5.00

Effects

God’s Gift Truclear is one of the most versatile products that I’ve yet to try in Florida’s medical cannabis program. For me, I used it to treat anything from nausea to muscle spasms to anxiety and depression; I seriously recommend every patient trying out at least one 1:1 CBD:THC product if not the God’s Gift distillate. As we continue to learn about the hundreds of cannabinoids and how they work individually and together, we find that some of the most medically useful products involve this “entourage effect” of multiple cannabinoids being used at the same time. The higher concentration of CBD in God’s Gift gives it added versatility and seems to help it have more “soothing” medical properties. Patients needed the strong effects of THC for conditions like depression, insomnia, and other similar illnesses may find that THC-dominant products like the Clementine distillate or Jack Herer distillate vape cartridge work better for managing their symptoms. God’s Gift may be a good choice for patients who are prone to anxiety and/or panic attacks from using high concentrations of THC as the CBD works to reduce the amount of psychoactive effects the THC is able to induce.

When I used God’s Gift (both orally and through inhalation), the effects were very mellow and relaxing. There was a prominent sensation of relaxation throughout the body, almost a warmth, and thoughts seemed to ease into a slow and steady pace so as not to overwhelm my mind as some strong sativa concentrates have done before. Any nausea or abdominal discomfort I had gradually faded away as a stronger appetite faded in. While this strain was not the best I’ve used to treat my depression, it was definitely one of the better products for treating anxiety and racing thoughts. Again, the benefits of God’s Gift are far-reaching and well-rounded.

TLDR: Every patient needs to give a 1:1 product a try at some point, whether it be this product or another one.

Effects Rating: 4.60/5.00

Overall Rating: 4.00/5.00

The Trulieve God’s Gift Distillate would best be described as a “medically versatile and useful” product; the higher amounts of CBD in combination with high concentrations of THC (both near 40%) really opens up a broad spectrum of medicinal benefits.. The one major way I think it could be improved would be to use cannabis-derived terpenes. Trulieve – if you’re reading this, I really believe you’d see a good return on switching Truclear over to a cannabis-derived Terpene product. If at all possible, labeling the strain as the strain it’s actually extracted from (We’d love Harlequin GDP Truclear!) would result in an even better image and trustworthiness.

Trulieve CO2 Vape Cart Review: Green Crack (Sativa)

After hearing about the Green Crack sativa strain for so long, I finally decided to cave in and try another CO2 Vape Cart from Trulieve. I don’t buy these carts regularly because of the $55 for price tag; when you’re only getting 400mg for that price, it’s hard not to just get an 850mg syringe of Truclear and fill up a VFire pod myself for a total of less than $65. I also had my doubts about the taste of this product after trying the Sunset Sherbert CO2 vape cart; fortunately, this product tasted much better, and the effects have been very nice.

Quick Facts

Strain: Green Crack (Sativa)

THC: 82.2%

CBD: 0.4%

Batch/Harvest Number: FFOBBULPLE000003

Extracted from: Jack Herer (Again, I really don’t understand the need to label the product as another strain. If Green Crack has a lower yield, adjust to that.)

Taste:

Trulieve’s C02 vape cart products are all made with natural cannabis-derived terpenes, so I expected the taste of them to be much better than their earlier vape carts, which are cut with MCT oil and food-grade terpenes. As I mentioned in the preceding paragraph, the Sunset Sherbert vape cart had me a little bit skeptical of how well Trulieve was going to be able to implement the cannabis-derived terpenes. Sunset Sherbert had a very earthy taste (to be blunt, it tastes like fresh soil), which can be accurate for some strains; however, the implementation in that particular product did not result in the most appealing taste.

I was pleased to find that the Green Crack CO2 cart had a completely different taste. It’s very fresh and “clean” tasting, moderately sweet, with the slightest hint of an herbal/earthy taste. Overall, it’s very pleasing, and I could see it becoming an issue for patients to dose more than usual with this product for that reason. Leafly mentions the three main tastes as “earthy, citrus, and sweet”. I would have to say that sweet was the primary tase of those three, citrus is not really present at all (at least for me), and the earthy taste was very subtle.

Taste Rating: 4.00/5.00

Vapor and Product Quality

The Trulieve CO2 carts are all CCell carts with the small rubber bands of various colors to denote which strain or ratio the cart is. Airflow is exceptionally good with these carts and possibly the best in the program that I’ve yet tried. The carts may look like they aren’t full; my Trulieve always has a package insert in my bag when I buy these carts that states the appearance of any lack of product is due to the efficient absorption of the CCell carts. These carts already seem to burn pretty fast due to how well the air flows, so I’m a little cautious about fully believing this, but online research seems to indicate this is true.

The vapor on this product always makes me cough. Every time. It doesn’t matter if I take a one second drag or if I inhale for five seconds – I am going to go into a coughing fit. This is strange for me because I generally have a good tolerance to cannabis products and rarely cough; perhaps some of the terpenes in Green Crack are causing this. I don’t necessarily find coughing to be a bad thing, though, as it seems I am always more efficiently medicated afterward vs. not coughing at all.

Vapor/Product Quaity Rating: 3.90/5.00

Effects:

I’m very pleased with the effects I’ve been getting from the Green Crack CO2 cart. This strain induces a very controlled, almost calm, focus. I find that I am able to organize and categorize my thoughts very well after medicating, leading me to believe that this product would be really good for patients looking for alternative treatment for ADD and ADHD. Green Crack does not necessarily give me a significant amount of euphoria, but it does leave me feeling generally calm and at ease, which is not what I would expect based off of the strain name. I honestly don’t know why this strain is called Green Crack, unless the flower brings on different effects; Jack Herer and Sour Diesel both have given me much more racy effects than Green Crack. The only sativa in the program that I’ve found to be an even more mellow sativa would be Colombian Gold.

The focus and productivity this strain brings is outstanding, though. I primarily vape Clementine Truclear during the day to help with my depression, anxiety, and occasional ADD symptoms; after trying this Green Crack vape cart, I may have a close contender for my main daytime medication in the near future. The only superiority that I would say I find in Clementine is its euphoric qualities seem to be more notable and better for treating depression. The effects from the Green Crack CO2 vape cart are definitely top tier.

Effects Rating: 4.40/5.00

Overall Rating: 4.10/5.00

The Green Crack CO2 Vape Cart from Trulieve is a product that I would best describe as “exceptionally good”. The one thing that would make this product even better would be a price reduction down to $40 or $45; I am really hoping that victories in court trials on the unconstitutionality of the current Florida medical cannabis law will drive prices across the state downward in 2019. Other than that, I’d definitely recommend giving this product a try.

Trulieve Truclear Distillate Review: Clementine (Sativa)

Trulieve’s Truclear line is what forged my path during the early days of having my medical cannabis card. Though I have come to prefer using flower for my main line of medication, I still use distillates and vape cartridges for when I need to have medication on the go; I never take my flower out of my home once I’ve made the initial run from the dispensary. I’d like to go ahead and point out, as many of you know, that Trulieve’s vape cart and distillate products are not made from the strain they are advertised as. This batch of Clementine was extracted from Jack Herer according to its lab report. For those of you who don’t know, you can see the third-party lab report of any Trulieve product by inputting the batch number on your product into the database/search engine found here.

With all that being said, I really enjoy the Clementine Truclear. Its effects are almost, if not entirely the classic sativa mental effects. I use cannabis to treat anxiety, depression, and PTSD, and this product is so far the most consistent at relieving all those symptoms while simultaneously allowing me to perform at my best.

Quick Facts:

Clementine Distillate (Sativa) – (extracted from Jack Herer (Sativa))

THC: 80.0%

CBD: 0.7%

THCV: 0.4%

CBN: 0.7%

CBG: 4.2%

Total Cannabinoids: 86.0%

Batch Number: FFOBBUL1EV000011

Other Ingredients: Terpenes

As with my other reviews, I rate this product on three main criteria. Those three scores will be averaged for a final “overall score” and basic description of the product quality.

Taste

I’d like to precede this section by letting readers know that my main (almost exclusive) route of administration is inhalation, so this is mainly written from that perspective. However, I have used the product orally as well, and know enough about it to shed some light on it. The taste of Clementine is just about exactly what one would expect from the name of the strain; there is a sweet citrus taste with a hint of orange upon exhale. I use VFire pods with a Trustik to vaporize my distillates, and the vapor it produces has a very mild and subtle taste. This product does induce a cough that I presume to be attributed to the high levels of THC and other cannabinoids and terpenes in the distillate. Unfortunately, the terpenes are not cannabis-derived, but are “food grade”, meaning that they are most likely artificially flavored. However, I have found that the 9lb Hammer Truclear comes remarkably close to the actual taste of 9lb Hammer flower, so this does not necessarily mean that a cannabis-esque taste cannot be acquired from food-grade terpenes. However, cannabis-derived terpenes would produce a better spectrum of medicinal benefits and effects in our opinion.

Eating Clementine Truclear yields almost the same taste as vaporizing it, with one notable difference: bitterness. It must be in the nature of extracting this product, but almost all Truclear products I’ve taken orally have had this bitter taste. However, Clementine is one of the more balanced strains when consumed orally, as the sweetness helps mask the bitterness.

Taste Rating: 3.80/5.00

Vapor Quality

Clementine distillate produces a smooth vapor when used with VFire pods and a Trustik/ALD Amaze VFire battery. Of the distillates I’ve tried, Clementine has some of the more mild side effects of inducing coughing; it can and will make me cough at larger doses (for me, this is vapor inhalations that last longer than 3 seconds). Can’t really complain about this too much. The distillate vaporizers well and manages to taste good too.

Vapor Quality Rating: 4.20/5.00

Effects

Clementine Truclear has been the absolute best product I’ve tried for completely obliterating depression without making myself lazy or unproductive. I experience almost no body high to speak of; the effects are entirely cerebral. My vision becomes notably “sharper” and more colorful when these effects set in (almost immediately upon inhalation), and thoughts seem easier to line up and organize. Flow of speech comes naturally, and I am able to interact with people just as well or better than if I were not using cannabis. There is definitely an energetic quality to this product, which I attribute to the sativa distillates being extracted from energetic sativa strains like Jack Herer and Sour Diesel. Patients suffering from symptoms of ADD and ADHD may find that this strain produces desirable effects of thought concentration and ability to remain productive and focused. For me, one 3-second inhalation will produce effects that are sufficient for managing my symptoms for two to three hours. New patients or patients with low tolerances need to take it very slow when firs tasing Clementine, as the powerful cerebral effects may be somewhat overwhelming if the user is not experienced with how they feel. The best way to override any anxiety from using sativa strains is to remember that it is normal, the effects are brought on by natural and beneficial cannabinoids and terpenes, and that they can be harnessed to help bring us to greater potential. I highly recommend this product for patients looking to treat depression particularly, and other similar mental conditions related to anxiety, ADD, ADHD, etc. Patients with PTSD may even find that this strain helps them view life from an altered perspective that can be used to help overcome past trauma and plant seeds for a better future. Clementine’s effects are great.

Effects Rating: 4.60/5.00

Overall Rating: 4.20/5.00

The Trulieve Clementine Distillate would best be described as a “great” product; it is a staple product in my line of medication that I have bought many times. It’s consistently relieved my symptoms from depression, etc., and helped me to reach greater heights than what I thought possible for my life and career. Of all products I have reviewed, I highly regard this one for its medicinal benefits. The one and only way I think it could be improved would be to use cannabis-derived terpenes. Trulieve – if you’re reading this, I really believe you’d see a good return on switching Truclear over to a cannabis-derived Terpene product. If at all possible, labeling the strain as the strain it’s actually extracted from (We’d love Jack Herer Truclear!) would result in an even better image and trustworthiness.
